Situated in a renovated 1904 firehouse originally built for Engine Company No. 30, permanent and temporary exhibitions document New York City's rich firefighting history, from the bucket brigades of New Amsterdam, the hand-pumpers of the volunteer era, the excitement of horse-drawn steam engines, to today's high-tech fire boats and rescue equipment. The Museum also houses a permanent memorial for the 343 firefighters who made the Supreme Sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
